Sashimi is made by a thin sliced fresh fish. This kind of dish is served raw not cooked. Most of the fish used is tuna, salmon and other fatty fish with good quality for sashimi. Nigiri is a kind of fish used for sushi. Nigiri is served with rice and nigiri can be served cooked compare to sashimi that it should always serve raw. Nigiri is different from sashimi. Nigiri is a kind of sushi. Nigiri is only part of the ingredients of sushi. Some misinterpreted sushi to sashimi well in fact they have a great difference.

The similarity of Nigiri and sashimi is that they are both Japanese food. Another possible similarity is that the Nigiri is raw fish on top on the vineyard rice. With sashimi it also raw fish but there is no rice involves. You can eat sashimi with rice or without rice but rice is not part of its ingredients compare to Nigiri that to complete the sushi it need rice underneath on it. Sashimi is best for appetizer not as the main dish.

Nigiri has a meaning Ni means two giri means fingers. So Nigiri will prepared using two fingers it should be press by two hands. For those first timers in making sushi nigiri is the best ingredient they will use. Nigiri is good for sushi it taste delicious and the fish is fresh and has a good quality. In eating sashimi should advisable to use chopsticks. The raw fish of the sashimi is best when you use chopsticks rather that other tools.

In Nigiri sushi you can use chopsticks but you can also use it your hands in eating. Eating in hands for Nigiri is good since it has rice underneath on it and dip it a soy sauce. The sashimi also requires soy sauce in eating. Nigiri and sashimi both need a dipping sauce to make the dish complete. Most Japanese people love to eat Nigiri and Sashimi coz these two dishes have an authentic taste that most people love not only Japanese.

In plating most of the time sashimi has side dish with vegetables like radish, seaweeds and other. In Nigiri it depends on the chef if he will put some other side dishes.
